This certification has a more practical approach to the core software testing material covered at Foundation level. Candidates will focus on testing fundamentals including principles, types, management, analysis and other aspects up to level K4 of the learning objectives.

It takes the concepts and techniques learned at ISTQB Foundation level one step further, with more emphasis on developing analytical thinking around software testing, using scenarios and practical exercises throughout the course.

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates must hold the ISTQB-BCS Certified Tester Foundation Level and have at least 18 months experience in software testing and / or have completed a BCS accredited training course for the Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing. Training with a BCS accredited training provider is recommended.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Candidates who hold the ISTQB-BCS Certified Tester : Foundation Level certificate and ideally have at least 18 months experience in Software Testing. We recommend delegates re-familiarise themselves with the Foundation level material before attending this course. The syllabus is intended for anyone involved in software testing, particularly; testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers and software developers.

What format is the exam?

One hour ‘closed book’

  • 25 scenario-based questions
  • Pass mark is 60% (15/25)
  • Simple non-programmable calculators can be used during paper based examinations (to be provided by the candidate)

Candidates taking online examinations will have access to an on-screen calculator. No other calculators or mobile technology will be allowed.

Examination

The examination is 1 hour long, with 25 multiple choice questions. This will take place in the afternoon of day 4. Additional time is available when English is not the first language. The pass mark is 60%.
